Message	They would be able to tell you. Or if you have a multimeter measure the AC (not DC) voltage on the battery post. The diode converts the AC voltage being created by the alternator into DC. If a large amount of AC voltage is present the diode is bad. I had trouble with my alarm being installed using the "Ground when armed' wire to lock the doors. It drained the battery quickly.
